This is the first tasting menu concept in town (started as a pop up, and opened a few days ago as a brick-and-mortar in the Pizitz). The duck breast with duck bao were phenomenal, but the unexpected star was the molasses egg yolk with vegetables. Chef Stull and his pastry chef Cate Cole have formulated a 6 course menu to start, expanding to 10 courses soon, as well as an a la carte menu that makes my bank account run in fear. I’ll be back whenever I can, and I strongly recommend making your reservation—it’s an experience, not just dinner, and that’s something that Birmingham is becoming known for—culinary experience.

Rêve has become one of my favorite places to come for a special night out. I have been twice to the old pop-up location and just now at the new brick and mortar. Focused, driven, artful, playful, thoughtful dinner. Chef Jacobs tone and style are super obvious throughout the space and the food; the place and the menu read like a quiet expression of his sensibilities as a cook and a person, and I like that. This is a deeply personal project for him and it’s clear that he’s enjoying being able to really just showcase... What he thinks is correct and cool.
